Who:

Vincent, a 23-year-old armadillo, is the hero of the film. Vincent is your average, college-aged armadillo. He majors in Computer Science. His love interest is named Veronica and is 20 years old; she is a canine who also aspires to be a photographer. Every story needs a villain, and in this one, Danny is it. He is a 25-year-old feline who spends most of his time playing sports.

What:

The film is a "slice of life" sort of movie. It follows the characters as they go to school and interact with it each other. A good story needs conflict, however. Thus, a classic love triangle forms between the main characters. Vincent, Veronica and Danny must also reevaluate their relationships with each other, and come to terms with who they are.

When:

"In My Shell" is a contemporary story. It is set in the current year and follows the timeline of the "real" world, our world. A timeless plot, however, brings the characters to life.

Where:

The film takes place in a world much like our own, except that the inhabitants are anthropomorphic- they have human characteristics but are animals. More specifically, the characters seem to inhabit any medium-sized city that could be found in the United States.

Why:

When one thinks of animation, one thinks of Walt Disney or Warner Bros. Also, DreamWorks has begun creating profitable animated films. All, however, share a common thread: they usually involve zany characters or plots, cute sidekicks, and songs. Lots of songs. "In My Shell" is a more realistic approach to the genre- never mind that the characters are talking, upright animals. Character development is more important than toy sales in this film.

How:

"In My Shell" is not a CGI film; it relies on computers, of course, but most of the animation is done by hand, frame by frame. The handmade frames are then enhanced digitally and made into the final movie.
